Phenology is the study of recurring biological events in the biosphere and the causes of their timing.

PhenoALP is a EU co-funded Interreg Project, under the operational programme for cross-border cooperation Italy–France (ALCOTRA) 2007-2013 aiming at getting a better understanding of phenological changes as related to climate change in the Alps. Project lasted between 2009 and 2012.

ePHENO is PhenoALP follow-up project, aiming at enlarging and strengthening the phenology monitoring network in North-western Alps, by including new partners and increasing awareness on phenology and climate change impacts. The project started in January 2012 and ended in March 2015.

An app for smartphone was also realized, for collecting PHENOCLIM observations. The volunteers owning a smartphone can now readily upload their observations. Currently available for Android, the app will be soon released for Apple (C) devices.
